Light filtered steadily through the hospital blinds illuminating the room only the slightest. For a room at Cleveland General, it was dark. The fluorescent lights that usually blinded it's patients, were turned off by the request of the pop-star that now sat in one of the many uncomfortable plastic chairs next to the man who he hoped he would spend every waking moment with in the future. The evidence in his caramel eyes that he'd been crying was inevitable. They were blood-shot, and swollen. Tear tracks stained his bronzed cheeks made the man that strives for physical perfection each day, look as though he didn't care at all.

Nathaniel slowly opened his eyes and blinked for a moment. He rubbed his eyes then gasped his eyes darting straight to the bed, but let out the breath. He wasn't awake yet. Nate's eyes scanned the boy as he felt new tears spring to his eyes. Shallow cuts and various bruises covered his face; some were starting to yellow around the edges, where other's were still a dark purple. The cuts had already started to heal, but it was the wound in his neck that scared Nate the most. The doctors has told him that Keefe was going to be fine, and that Man-Eater hadn't hit any major organs when she stabbed him, but he couldn't help but continue to worry about him.

Trying to be strong, Nate wiped the tears from his eyes and grasped Keefe's hand in his own. "Keefe, if you can hear me, I just want to let you know that I love you. I don't know how many times I've told you already, but that doesn't matter. I'll tell so many more times." It wasn't as though he was in a coma, but over the last couple of days, Nate wasn't sure that Keefe was going to wake up at all. The doctors said that it was due to the large amount of blood that he'd lost, but either way, it continued to scare Nate, and he wasn't about to calm down until he had Keefe in his arms, alive and well.

Keefe was trying to get back. At first, when he'd slouched back into the chair in the hospital a few days ago, being unconscious was a relief. He'd done his absolute best to not act like he was hurt while he'd walked with Nathaniel, but it had been a struggle. He'd almost literally had a hole in his belly, a gash on his arm, and a slit that could've killed him had it been deeper in his throat. Just bloody breathing had been painful. To slip into a blank state, not quite a coma but not really sleeping, either, had been merciful so long as he didn't have to feel his wounds. But now, he was tired of it; he wanted to be part of the world again, to be alive.

Nathaniel's words buzzed incoherently in his head as he spoke; Keefe could hear him, plain as day, but his voice was muffled. The curly-headed boy strained to understand what the other was trying to tell him, but a thick fog lay across everything and made it impossible. Frustrated, he tried focusing all his dwindling attention on prying his eyes open. He wanted to be with Nathaniel again, damn it! "N-Nate..." He felt so disconnected from his body that he didn't fully recognize the new voice as his own at first, much less know exactly what he was saying. His eyes remained closed, but his voice got stronger. "Nathaniel...wha'...wha' are ye?"

Nathaniel held Keefe hand tightly, as if he was going to leave him if he let go. Leaning in, he pressed his lips against the back of Keefe's hand silently praying that he would wake up. He needed him ot wake up. If he didn't... Nathaniel Kennedy may be no more, and to 75% o the teen female population that would be a grand loss.

"N-Nate..." The sound of his name shocked Nate. He didn't believe it to be any of the Nurses, or even the doctors, because they were too formal when talking to him, but it wasn't just in his head either. Nathaniel sat up straight and stared blankly at Keefe. Shaking, Nate used one of his hands to stroke his boyfriend's cheek lightly. "Baby?" He asked in a shaking voice. God he hoped that it was Keefe who had called his name, because if not then he was for sure going crazy.

"Nathaniel...wha'...wha' are ye?" Smiling brightly, Nate leaned closer to Keefe, lifting himself out of the chair he had confined himself to for the past couple of says. The gorgeous Irish accent that Keefe sported was enough for Nate to believe that he wasn't actually going crazy, but that it was indeed the love of his life waking up.

"Keefe, I'm right here love." As he spoke he knew something wasn't right. Although he was talking, his eyes were still shut. Was he really waking up? Or was he just talking in his sleep. The thought frightened Nate a bit after he'd been getting his hopes up. Maybe he needed to speak to him a bit more. "Love, I need you to open your eyes. I need to know that you're actually coming back to me. He said biting his lip lightly. He hoped that Keefe was waking up. He needed his lover back, he wasn't the same since he found him, and he wouldn't be the same if he were to ever leave him.

Reality was coming back to Keefe in degrees. To open his eyes right now would be too much for his brain to register. As he lay there, his senses slowly coming back to him, he knew he would be awake again soon. The musty smell that most hospitals had made him wrinkle his nose slightly; that was where he was right now, wasn't it? And...and...oh, God, that was Nathaniel's soft, cool hand on his cheek, wasn't it? The O'Kane lad remained stock still, afraid that if he moved that Nathaniel would move his hand away. "Baby?" The popstar was calling to him, using just one of those pet names he loved. Open your eyes, damn you!

Keefe was awake enough that he could feel Nathaniel's breath now, warm against his cheek as the other boy leaned over him. The boy's eyebrows crinkled together and his grip on his lover's hand tightened as he concentrated, hearing every word. A soft whimper tickled the back of his throat when his efforts failed at first, angry and upset and irritated. Then, all at once, blackness became blurred color. Light flooded in and his vision, his heart, his very soul suddenly had meaning again. "Oi'm back..." he croaked happily, his voice sore from lack of use. Weakly he leaned up and pressed his lips to Nathaniel's. He'd never imagined being so happy to see someone in his life!

The tears that had formed in Nate's eyes were that now of happiness. He squeezed Keefe's hand tightly encouraging the younger boy to wake up so that they could be together once more. His heart raced, anticipating the moment when he would be able to gaze deeply into Keefe's deep brown eyes once more. Butterflies flew in multiple circles around inside his stomach as he gently caressed his soft white skin. The younger boy was everything to Nate. His soul mate.. At least that's what Nate believed. He usually didn't believe in such things, but how else could he have fallen so quickly? He barely knew him a week before he was certain that he was head over heels for the other boy.

The moment that Keefe opened his eyes, Nate's heart exploded in his chest and a large smile formed on his chest. Even with all the cuts and bruises, Nate believed Keefe to be the most beautiful man he'd ever seen in his life. He eagerly returned the kiss that had been placed on his lips, pulling his hand from Keefe's and using it to caress Keefe's other cheek with his thumb. Pulling back, Nate smiled and nodded. "That you are love, and I'm glad. I don't know what I would do without you. The world would be losing a celebrity if you left me, that's for sure." He said happier than ever that Keefe was back with him. Now the only thing that he had to worry about was making sure that Keefe would be safe with him forever. Even if forever was a long time.

Oh, Jesus... Kissing Nathaniel as soon as he could see anything probably hadn't been a good idea. It was hard enough for Keefe to handle kisses in the first place; Nate had such soft lips, with a taste he couldn't describe in words that he'd so quickly become addicted to. And his fingers...God, he was so gentle over the bruises and nicks on his face. Never in a million years would Keefe be able to do anything to deserve someone like him. He couldn't limit himself to just one touch, but right now he was sore and every one of his muscles ached, as if he'd been playing for hours. As soon as Nate pulled away, he let his head fall back against the pillow with a tired sigh.

He didn't want to close his eyes (not ever again), but he was still very groggy; he looked up at his boyfriend with half-lidded eyes. Any other day and he wouldn't have been able to stand the grit on the lens of his glasses, but right now, that was the least of his troubles. A sleepy half-smile curled one side of his freshly-kissed lips, delighted to be awake and close to Nathaniel. Sure, he felt as if he'd been run over by a damn train; his arm, which he realized had been placed in a sling, was sore and his throat felt raw, but that just meant he was human again. But then...humans were imperfect, weren't they? "Don't say t'ings loike dat, Nathaniel," he chided gently. "Ye wouldn't really do dat."

Don't say t'ings loike dat, Nathaniel, Ye wouldn't really do dat. Nate shrugged and sat back in his chair, pulling it as close as he could to the bed. He used one of his hands, to smooth back Keefe's curls as he began to speak. "Y'never know Babe. Heartbreak can make people do a lot of stupid shit." He said, a smile caressing his own features. He moved his other hand from his lap and used it to grasp Keefe's hand once more. He was happy that he was awake and seemed well, however since the incident Nate was scared that Keefe was going to leave him if he wasn't touching him every moment.

"But that shouldn't matter right now. What does matter is that you're alive and awake. Nate said leaning forward and pressing a feather light kiss against Keefe's forehead. Keefe was his life now. Everything he'd dreamed of. When he believed that he was going to marry a girl and produce dozens of children, he knew that he was dreaming of Keefe at night. Of course during the days before he'd actually met him, Nate was in pure denial. He'd known that he was bisexual for most of his life, but he always saw himself spending his life with a girl rather than a girl, but after he found Keefe, all of that melted away and reality stepped in.

"I love you Keefey." He whispered pulling back and gazing into his lover's eyes and blessing him with a smile. He was indeed beautiful; whether he believed it himself or not.

Keefe was almost purring, content as a person could be. He didn't care that he was in a hospital room, or that he was there because he'd been attacked by a crazy serial killer who'd had every intention of eating him. That was important, aye, but right now...his eye lids slid closed despite himself. Nathaniel's fingers in his hair were soothing, even if what he was saying made the Irishman's heart twist. "Canny deny dat, Oi guess," he admitted wearily, his thoughts too lined with fuzz to put up much of an argument. He twined his fingers into the spaces between Nathaniel's, glad to be connected to him in some way. "But Oi'm not worth killin' yerself over."

He wasn't. If anything was clear to him right now, it was the fact that he wasn't worth it. The fact of the matter he was lying in a hospital bed. The hair Nathaniel was stroking hadn't been combed for days, and he was pretty sure he had some stubble. His bad arm lay nestled in a sling against his slowly rising and falling chest, probably useless for a while. No, he wasn't worth it. If he had been Mac, who surely would've been stronger or could've even fought Barbie off in the first place, maybe. But he was Keefe, and he needed Nathaniel to kiss him like that. "Maybe not so much awake," he muttered, blowing a wry chuckle through his nose.

"I love you." Keefe opened his eyes to look hard into the older boy's, returning the warm smile. But it was also the first time he'd studied Nathaniel up close since he'd woken up, and the curl of his lips flipped upside down. "Were ye cryin', me lovely?" It was a rhetorical question, for it was obvious that he had been. The dark-eyed lad found the strength to lean up again, this time pressing his lips to the side of the musician's jaw. The taste of salt was sharp and the whiskers he'd let grow tickled a little, but he had to clean up those tear stains somehow, and what better way than to just kiss them away? "Oi love ye," he mumbled, placing another kiss above the first.

"Canny deny dat, Oi guess, But Oi'm not worth killin' yerself over." Nate sighed and pressed his forehead against their intertwined hands, taking a couple deep breaths before looking back up. It wasn't as if he would resort to suicide, but it was an option yes. What he would most likely do, would be isolate himself and weep. Nothing exactly that extreme. He'd probably consider it, but he wouldn't actually go through it. He looked back up at Keefe, a smile breaking through his somber look. It was hard for him not to smile when he was around Keefe. His beauty was just something unavoidable. The curl of his plup lips, the sparkle in his deep eyes. Sometimes his heart couldn't take looking at him, but he found it so hard to not look at him.

Lost in his boyfriend's beauty, Nate didn't hear the other boys rhetorical question, or the couple comments he'd made. The simple phrase of "I love you" beneath his foreign accent had been what stolen Nate from his thoughts. It was the feeling of Keefe's lips against his skin that brought him into a forbidden heaven. The kind that no man should go until later in life. It was the kind that told you that you truly found the person of your dreams. The kisses up his jaw line elicited a small almost inaudible moan from Nate's lips. What he was feeling was sinful and defiantly going straight to his dick. Nate closed his eyes and lolled his head back letting the pleasure take over his body. If only he could return the pleasure, but in Keefe's frail state, Nate was afraid of hurting the other boy.

Keefe never would've imagined that his life would come to this. Never in a million years would he have even dared to picture himself allowing his lips to touch another male. He had always thought he was straight; girls fascinated him, what with the way they walked, talked, acted. They excited him, drew him in with the typical tight clothes and pretty eyes. But Nathaniel drove him crazy; he would never admit it, but he'd been attracted (although so mildly at first that he himself didn't notice it) to him from the very start. Nathaniel wasn't what Keefe would call beautiful (he almost never used that word) and he wasn't perfect, but he was just...him.

The O'Kane lad adored Nathaniel. He didn't care about girls anymore; he'd never loved any of them, and none of them had ever loved him. Maybe it was by chance, the fact that the popstar was the first to touch his heart like this. Maybe he would've fallen for some girl, gotten married, had a few sons or daughters. Or maybe it was destiny. Maybe he had never felt like this with a girl because he'd been born for Nathaniel Kennedy. Keefe was inclined toward the second as he tenderly brushed what was left of the musician's tears away with his lips. Why else would his skin taste so good under all the salt? Why else would they even feel this way about one another, both faulty and neither perfect?

Why else would that tiny sound Nathaniel made make his heart beat a littler faster? "Ye ain't enjoyin' yerself, are ye? Oi 'enny even done anythin' yet," he muttered through one side of his mouth, fond sarcasm dripping off the words. He was keenly aware of how his kisses were effecting the other even before he'd made a noise. He was sharp, Keefe O'Kane. He could feel Nathaniel's skin heating up under his mouth (as well as his own; he wanted Nate too). With a brief, wicked smile the young Irishman released his visitor's hand, freeing his own to press against the back of his neck. Too tired to keep his head up, he leaned back, but used this new hold to guide Nathaniel's lips to his.

It was really the best feeling he'd ever felt that was really unsexual. Of course it was a little bit, however the way each little touch made the butterflies in Nate's stomach grow made it not. It was at that moment that he wished that Keefe wasn't hurt and that they were at his hotel where Keefe could cash in that rain check. Of course then things between them would be sexual, but to Nathaniel, it would be so much more than that.

The moment that Keefe's lips left his skin, Nate opened his eyes and repositioned his head. He looked down at the younger boy, but was instantly caught way off guard by Keefe's hand against the back of his neck guiding his face towards his own. There was a short moment where Nate was unsure of what to do, but once it was over, Nate finished the job. He stood up, and placed both hands on either side of the young Irish boy as he connected their lips in a sweet kiss. The erection that was now very prominent behind the confining fabric of Nate's jeans throbbed, but he ignored it. All that seemed to matter to him at that moment was the sensational feeling he was having just touching Keefe in anyway.

It was only a short moment later that the simple kiss had turned into a heated make out session. It was all teeth and tongue between the teenage couple, but the love between them could probably be felt from the end of the hospital hallway. Nate climbed up on top of Keefe, careful not to hurt him as he deepened the kiss even more (if that was even possible) using his hands to keep himself up so that his weight wouldn't crush the younger boy. It hurt Nate enough that he was hurt in the first place, but if he were to hurt him any more he'd be the one placed in a hospital.

Keefe realized he was trapped as soon as Nathaniel's hands came down on either side of him, and for a split second he regretted pushing him that far. Never had he been in a position like this, literally with his belly up in submission. Fear darkened his heart, and there was nowhere for him to go. But when the older boy's soft lips finally came in contact with his again, nothing else really seemed to matter anyway. Nathaniel...he...he was safe to trust, wasn't he? He wasn't going to hurt him, or abandon him, or shout at him, or call him ugly names. The Irishman's heart strained against the inside of his chest, desperate to be with the other boy's.

Faithful that Nathaniel wasn't going to treat him the way his father did, Keefe quietly allowed him to take the position up top. It felt new and strange to him; he had only slept with the older boy once (but he preferred to think that they'd made love...it had been so much more than just sex), and then he'd been in complete control. Now, Nathaniel was the one calling the shots and pushing his tongue past his lips. He thought he would be afraid when he felt the bigger boy crawling up onto him, but he wasn't. His heart pounded, his breath was short, and his pants were starting to get tight, but he wasn't scared. He trusted him. He loved him. He wanted him.

He wanted him so much. Hungry for more touch, Keefe slipped his good hand up and into Nathaniel's hair, tangling his fingers in it and loving the feel of it. Instinctively his other hand tried to follow, and a sudden lightning bolt of pain shot up his arm and through his shoulder, screaming furiously for trying to use the damaged muscle. His entire body tensed and his back arched, inadvertedly pressing one hidden arousal against another. Keefe whimpered and pulled away, torn between the two sensations. "Nathaniel..." His tone was husky, but he wasn't sure if that was desire or pain. He arced up to meet him again, needing it. "Oi wanna go 'um wi' ye..."

The world around Nate seemed to crumble into oblivion, the only thing left being the young couple as they expressed their love to each other. Though it had only been a short while, to Nate it just felt like any other day. Though he was dominating the situation, Nate felt safe being with Keefe. He may be the older, and bigger one of the two, domination was something that he wasn't good at. Ever since he'd been a child, he'd hated calling the shots. He'd rather be a follower than a leader. Even now as a famous pop-star, he lets his manager and the record label tell him to go when. The break was his call to get away from everything, and although Cleveland wasn't exactly the best place to relax, but now he was glad that he chose the large Ohio city.

The feeling of Keefe's hand in his hair drove the older boy wild. Balancing himself on one hand, Nate used the other to caress the younger boys uninjured side showing him that everything was going to be alright, and that he would always be safe with him. It was with that same touch, that Keefe seemed to pull away. Nate re-balanced himself on both hands and stared down at the love of his life; the heart that beat rapidly in his chest almost faltering at the sound of Keefe's voice. The Irish accent and husky tone, making every nerve in his body firing up like a live wire. It was the words that were hidden behind the voice that saddened Nate, making his chest feeling tight as his heart was squeezed. Nate bit his lip and sighed. "I know babe, but the doctors say they need to keep you just one more day. Tomorrow, you and I will go back to my place and I'll take care of you;" Nate smiled softly as he spoke capturing Keefe's lips in his own once more before pulling back. "Promise." He said.

Cormac had almost never been separated from his brother for more than a few hours. Always, the O'Kane twins had been much closer than other brothers or even other pairs of twins. They were almost mirror images of the other, but very different people. Although it was a different type of love, Cormac loved Keefe just as much (if not more) as Nathaniel did. He'd visited his brother every day after school since he'd been attacked, hoping that that day would be the one when Keefe's eyes were open as he walked in. Cormac's heart smoldered with a desire to make Man-Eater pay, but he'd rather spend an hour or so with Keefe, asleep or not, than go looking for her.

Somehow, he had managed to miss Nathaniel's presence every single time. Cormac had never met the musician face-to-face; close as the brothers were, Keefe was significantly more secretive. Cormac would've remembered if he'd seen Nathaniel around the hospital, too; he worked in a music store, after all, so he knew most of the big artists at the moment. He paused at the door to his brother's room first, considering knocking, then dismissed it. Keefe might not be awake, so if he waited for an answer he might end up staying outside forever. No, he didn't announce himself first. He simply readjusted his hold on the chessboard he'd brought, just in case Keefe was awake. He loved chess...

"What de bloody 'ell!" The statement practically springboarded off his tongue into the air as soon as Cormac realized what he was seeing. He almost ruined his brother's chessboard, tightening his grip on it so much in shock that the wood nearly splintered. The clear-sighted O'Kane twin stared, wanting to look away but unable to do it. Was that what was really...? "Git aff av 'im!" Cormac bellowed, assuming the very worst. He sprung forward and, unaware of who exactly he was grabbing, snatched the back of Nathaniel's shirt collar in a solid grip. No sooner did that happen then the brawny boy jerked up and away, hoping to yank the offender off his poor brother.

"Huh! T'morra'," Keefe scoffed. In the back of his mind, he mentally winced at the odd feeling of the stitches in his belly, which he'd only then noticed. The ones in his arm and throat felt strange too; they didn't really hurt, but they didn't feel natural. They reminded him where and how he was, dragging him back to reality. He couldn't have Nathaniel yet, no matter how badly he wanted him under his belt buckle. He had to wait to get out of the hospital and to have his stitches out, which could take...what, two, three weeks? "Dat's too bloody long, love..." he whispered, his eyes still closed in fear of overloading his already acute senses.

A thought, one that had occurred to him before but only surfaced fully now, struck him then and he opened his eyes. He relaxed back into the bed, peering steadily up at Nathaniel. The O'Kane boy's eyes were difficult to read even without his glasses, but his touch spoke his sadness for him. His fingers brushed through the other boy's hair, slowly now, trembling lightly as the second kiss rippled through him. "Me fam'ly is gonna want me back," he commented glumly, not enjoying the idea of going back to his father at all. Would Finn stop drinking, just for a little while, for his sake? Allow him to recover in peace? "Oi 'ave ter go 'um first."

Keefe, all at once terrified by the idea of going back home and facing his father, hinged his good arm around his boyfriend's neck, bringing him into a tight one-armed hug. He wanted so badly to go home with the older boy; with Nathaniel, he felt safe and whole. He squeezed his eyes shut, forcing himself not to cry in desperation. He held on for a long, tense time, letting the feel of the other boy's breathing to soothe him. He had just started to loosen his grip when Cormac burst in. All of a sudden, Nathaniel's warmth was ripped away from him for no reason at all. "What de fuck, mate!" he bawled indignantly. His dark eyes smoldered as he glared. "Let 'im go!"
